Pages Promotions Presents: The Passionate Plotter Program
Student and Adult Writers Workshops We believe that people of all ages have imaginations that are free and exciting. When given the opportunity, we come at story creation with an attitude of omnipotent benevolence. Our stories are free from rules and convention, which makes anyone who loves to tell stories a delight to work with.
Those drawn to the writing craft remind us that writing is indeed an art, and how sometimes, when working with a creative soul, rules are meant to be bent in order to make the story more fun!
Our Writing Workshops focus on the following story processes:
Genre Introductions and Story Components
Story Arcs and Outlining
World Building
Crafting Characters
Plot Development
Scene and Setting
Basic Editorial Techniques
Peer Review
At the close of the workshop, the students' work will be collected, sent through one last editorial pass by our professional editors, and compiled in an anthology. Once the anthology has been produced, we host a "Launch Event", where selected students are invited to read their work to family and friends who have come to support them.
Multiple Generation Writing Workshops In this program, a student and an adult (parent, grandparent, sibling, veteran, etc.) are paired to write together. The program process and metrics remain the same as our standard workshops. When writers of different generations get together, creativity has far more experiences from which to draw. Both writers will benefit from a new perspective and energetic approach to the craft.
This program is an ideal way to add value to the established curriculum or create new opportunities for collaboration between:
Veteran Organizations, Religious Groups, and Senior Centers Partnered with Student Programs
Shelter Residents (homeless, battered women, etc.), Non-Profit Volunteers, and Public Servants (police, fire, EMS, etc.) Partnered with Students in order for Students to meet High School Community Service Graduation Requirements
ESL Students Partnered with a Mentor
Foreign Exchange Students and Their Host Families, and Home-Schooling Programs
The shared experience of writing within multiple generations will teach an understanding of personal history , point of view perspective, and tolerance not only for the creative process, but for individuals and the community as a whole.
Legacy Writing Workshops This program is designed specifically with senior adults in mind. This program focuses on the techniques of storytelling as it pertains to memoir development. Participants are enticed to dig deep into their memories and approach the people of their lives as characters, allowing for emphasis on the superlative as adventure. We coach adult writers to focus on a singular phase in their lifetime, rather than attempt to encompass every year of their lives on the page. We help them to hone their writer's voice and tell the stories of their lifetime, leaving a legacy for family and friends.
This creative non-fiction writing workshop assists writers with:
Crafting Timelines
Focusing on Prominent Memories
Introducing the Characters of a Lifetime to Readers
and expanding the catharsis that occurs when one relates the important events of their lives to others.
