February 2023 Virtual Book Festival
Our goal is to create a strong community for Indie Authors and the people who read them. We want to bring like-minded souls together to celebrate the written word as sacred, no matter the content. We want to support writers in their passion for the craft, and to demonstrate to others that books can be far more entertaining than the screen… most of the time.
Mystery Suspect Dossiers
Amy Klco – Head Librarian
Head librarian Amy Klco works in the library, as she has for many years now. A strict, hard-nosed woman, Amy is a stickler for the rules and is quick to eject any “troublemakers” or “hooligans” from the library when called for. There is not much that goes on in the library that Amy doesn't know about. She is as much a fixture in the library as the shelves of books. 
Andrew Allen Smith – Historical Author
Historical author Andrew Allen Smith is visiting the library on a book tour, promoting his book titled “The Way of the Antiquities.” While he isn't actually booked in for a reading and signing today, he has come to the library to speak with the patrons one-on-one. According to the bio on the dust jacket of his book, Andrew Allen Smith is a writer, historian, and philanthropist, raising money and helping children all over the world. He also has a Ph.D. in medicine, and while he does not regularly practice medicine, he does work with Doctors Without Borders in his spare time. Andrew is outgoing and charismatic and carries a copy of his book. 
Deborah Reed – Reporter
A reporter for a local news and interests blog called City Beat, Deborah is a woman who always gets her story! Her articles and content appeal to the more intellectual in the city. However, her readership is not restricted to local readers; she has many readers worldwide, thanks to her gripping and far-reaching theories. Tenacious and outgoing, Deborah keeps her blog posts focused on positive and occasionally mysterious happenings in the city and around the world. 
Jules Nelson – Library Director
Mild-mannered and easy-going, Jules Nelson takes everything in stride – she has to, or she would go mad, working with the ensemble of characters she does. Thanks to them and her eccentric patrons, the life of a library director is never dull! Having been in the director position for a few years now, Jules runs a tight ship, making her library one of the best for miles around. She is rarely seen without a clipboard that holds a lengthy to-do list. 
Kristoffer Gair - Undercover Detective
A gentle, but no-nonsense Police Detective. His team has been investigating all of our Suspects in order to find the Sardonic Manuscript, as well as a Gutenberg Bible and a cache of other items that was stolen a short time ago. But when Andrew Allen Smith turns up dead, Kristoffer had no choice but to come out of the shadows, do his duty as an officer of the law, and solve this homicide (not to mention discover the reason why the Origami Horses were left at all the thefts.) |
Chloe Holiday – A Mysterious Character
Presumably, a patron of the library, Chloe is a mystery. She has been at the library all day, and her reasons for being there are unknown. Chloe is precise in her movements, and her clothes and demeanor indicate that she is a classy ”woman of the world.” She keeps to herself, and when she does answer questions, she tends to keep her answers vague. 
Melinda Falgoust – Researcher
Melinda is a library regular but is not a local – in fact, she spends her entire day in the library researching... well, no one really knows what she is researching! A mysterious person, Melinda keeps to herself but was recently joined by Ruby Fink. Melinda is quiet and respects most library rules, although she is never seen without a cup of coffee at her side – a transgression the library staff tend to overlook, considering the generous donations she has made to the library since she started her daily research. 
Marianne Wieland – Café Manager
Cafe manager Marianne Wieland is outgoing and charismatic. She spends her day slinging coffee for local residents and patrons of the library, and over the years, has become good friends with the library staff and regulars alike. A pillar of the community, Marianne hosts a monthly fundraising evening in the cafe with live music and varying themes, with all proceeds going to help fund library initiatives. Marianne spends a lot of her free time inside the library, claiming it is her place of solace – where she comes to recharge. She is charming and intelligent, and her kind demeanor instantly puts those she meets at ease. 
Ruby Fink – Psychic
Self-proclaimed psychic Ruby Fink runs a business giving intuitive readings. While some are skeptical of her abilities, Ruby’s skills are recognized worldwide, and she is one of the most reputable psychics in the business. She also lends her services to the police for missing persons cases – a fact that lends credibility to her “gift,” as she has helped the police close three of the four cases on which she consulted. Ruby is a peaceful woman with a kind smile and loves helping others. She is not a local and just flew into town yesterday on “private business.” |
