For our 2025 Community Service Project Anthology, we're doing something we haven't done in two years... Flash Fiction!
Here's the program, in a nutshell:

  • Each quarter, we'll  post new prompts on this page and on our Facebook page

  • Write a short story or poem using the prompt. 

  • Your story or poem may not exceed 250 words. 

  • You choose the genre, style, and narrative voice.  

  • You may write to as many of the prompts as you like throughout the year. 

  • You may submit several pieces for a single prompt.

  • Submission deadlines are the last day of each month for that month's prompts. 

  • ​Submissions received past the "last day" deadline will not be accepted.

  • At the end of the year, we'll compile all the stories and poems that meet the prompt and submission requirements into a single anthology. 

  • Proceeds of sales will benefit The Haley Sue Foundation.

For this collection, we are allowing a lot of flexibility for submissions.  However, we will reject submissions with graphic sex, instructional drug use, instructions for explosive design and detonation, violence against animals, and violence against children.  For this book, we request that all content fall in or below the "Adult" rating.  Below is a list of the rating limits.  Stories and poems that reach beyond these limitations will be rejected.

  • May contain significant profanity

  • May contain significant crude humor

  • May contain passionate and extended kissing

  • May contain one to three onscreen semi-detailed or detailed consensual love scenes 

  • May also contain additional fade-out intimacy scenes

  • May contain graphic descriptions of nudity

  • May contain extended and gruesome violence May NOT include instructions for the design and detonation of explosives

  • May contain significant drug, alcohol or tobacco use

  • May NOT include instructions for drug use

  • May NOT include graphic sex acts

  • NO Violence against animals

  • NO Violence against children

Week #23: June 8: A CEO wants to bury one secret, but if they do, another secret will come out.

Week #24: June 15: A countdown created to memorialize an event reveals something small that casts a large shadow.

Week #25: June 22: A creature that leaves behind a unique footprint, trail, or mark.

Week #26: June 29: A dangerously experimental substance or prototype that can only be sagely stored somewhere specific.

Week #27: July 6: A diplomat and a beggar are best friends.

Week #28: July 13: The shared moments of glory and failure for a blackmailer and a psychic.

Week #29: July 20: The banning of a specific social role or profession.

Week #30: July 27: An inventor must face the consequences of their actions.

Week #32: August 10: Where is teh body buried?

Week #33: August 17: The Port of Questions has a speakeasy for a certain kind of clientele.

Week #37: September 14: An outcast wants to eas a heartbreak.

Week #38: September 21: A librarian linked with a devastating secret.

Week: 39: September 28: A pilot wants to erase a black box recording

Week #40: October 5: An alchemist creates a soap which helps the washer take on a new form.

Week #41: October 12: Something is wrong with the mirrors and now they are learning they were not the only one.

Week #42: October 19: A clockmaker wants to restore the lost memory of a hidden warning.

Week #43: October 26: A grave robber's obituary.

Week #44: November 2: An escape artist has to hide from a geneticist.

Week #45: November 9: A guestbook message left at the Warehouse of Sounds.

Week #46: November 16: A clone is forbidden from returning to teh site used for centuries of burials.

Week #47: November 23: The opening of a memoir written by a prophet claiming to speak for a new god.

Week #48: November 30: The Cove of Laughter and Healing known for a particular pastry or desert.

     *Due Date: November 30, 2025*

Week #49: December 7: At the center of an island labrynth an elixir thought to have been destroyed is discovered.

Week #50: December 14: What does the imposter want?

Week #51: December 21: A poltergeist who wants to escape but if they do, a widely used technology will become unstable.

Week #52: December 28: A clown who must deal with the late delivery of something.

Submission Guidelines: Please Read Carefully!

  • There is no "read fee" associated with this program.  It is FREE for writers to submit as many pieces as they like.

  • Writers from every continent on Earth are invited to submit.  If we can get submissions from beings living in space stations or on a different planet, moon, or asteroid, that would be a bonus!

  • Writers must be 18 Earth years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian to submit.

  • All stories and poems must be submitted in Earth English.  Stories and poems submitted in another language will be rejected.  We simply don't have the translators (human or computer) to do that kind of work.

  • The final submission deadline is the last day of every month, for that month's prompts.

  • All stories and poems must be submitted by Midnight, Eastern US Time.

  •  Late submissions will NOT be accepted.

  • Stories and poems must be rated "AD (Adult)" or below, and follow the guidelines listed on this page.

  • ​All stories and poems must be submitted through the form on the Pages Promotions website, in MS Word, RTF, or open office equivalent.   Stories submitted in PDF and other formats will be rejected.  

  • ​Each story or poem must be submitted separately.  Multiple pieces in a single submission will reject ALL of the files in that submission.   No exceptions.

  • Stories and poetry submitted via  email, social media, postal, or currier delivery will not be accepted.  Writers MUST use the form on this page to submit their work.  However, if you can get a dragon to deliver it, we'll take that!

  • All submissions must be no more than 250 words.  We use MS Word to verify word counts.

  • Multiple submissions are permitted, and there is no limit to how many stories or poems an author may submit.

  • Authors may submit using a Pen Name, if they choose.  Multiple submissions by a single writer under different pen names is acceptable.

  • The book will be edited and published for a targeted January 2026 release.

  • Proceeds from sales will benefit The Haley Sue Foundation

  • High School Students who submit a minimum of six pieces will earn a certificate for two hours of community service toward their high school graduation requirements.  Students who live anywhere in the United States are eligible for this award.  Students must share their legal name if they are eligible for this certificate to coincide with school records.

  • Writers are NOT compensated for their work, but will be entitled to ONE copy of the anthology at print cost.

  • All writers retain ownership rights to their work, and grant Pages Promotions, LLC publication, sales, and distribution rights to their work for this anthology title, in perpetuity.
