About The Author: HJ Corning can be found dancing in the woods and through life eating Montezuma’s 100% chocolate and drinking Zevia. Then the Trees Said Hello is her debut novel. It is the first in a series. It sprouts from a life lived in the woods, hiking, backpacking and just sitting under trees far from civilization.  She lives in the mountains southwest with her engineer husband, rescued dog, and lap loving cat.

Maxine just graduated from college and is out traveling in her van trying to figure out what to do next. She discovers a notebook that Sara hid away. Through Sara’s journal, Maxine discovers a world she didn’t know existed. One that few of us know, yet it flourishes close by.

This is the inspiring story of two women on a quest to protect what they love and coming into powers they didn't know existed, decades apart, and in very different worlds. Will they find their strength in time?
