This is a special presentation episode of the Indie Reads Aloud Podcast.
We’re talking about NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) that comes around every November. The concept is easy to understand; Writers are challenged to write the first draft of a novel – 50,000 words – in just 30 days. Traditional writers begin a new project, a novel, usually. Rebel writers can work on whatever type of project they like… non-fiction, poetry, memoir, or they can add words to a project already in progress. But the main goal remains the same… 50,000 words. In this episode, we talk with veteran and new NaNoWriMos, get their perspectives on the program, tips, tricks, and how to keep the momentum going throughout the month and WIN! Some writers may feel overwhelmed by such a challenge, but after listening in on our conversation, I think everyone will discover just how fun and possible it really is to write a first draft of a book in a month! The authors who joined us in this episode are Marianne Wieland, SW Raine, RL Fink, Michael Beardslee, Shani Smith, Kristian Bullen, and Jacob Bullen. If you’d like to learn more about NaNoWriMo, visit their WEBSITE and make a profile. It’s fun, easy, and free. Then, get ready to write in November! You can connect with the Detroit Region, stay up to date on our gentle competition for word count success, join in discussions, and get the calendar of events for all the in-person and online events. You can make them your home region to participate in our Discord server, and join in on fun word sprints, crazy conversations, pep talks, and creative craft discussions. Feel free to add me as a Buddy. My handle is DKWP614. I’d love to give and gain support in our daily word count goals, and share progress of our milestones along the way. You can reach out to me directly at [email protected] if you have any questions, or would like to hear more about the program. Happy Writing! Watch The YouTube Video HERE!

Watch The YouTube Video HERE! About The Author: Australian Jennifer Raines writes contemporary romances set mainly, but not exclusively, in Australia – think Malta, Finland, New Zealand or ?. A dreamer and an optimist, her stories are a delicious cocktail of mutual respect, passion and loyalty because she still believes in happy-ever-afters. Jennifer lives in inner-city Sydney, Australia, with the requisite number of partners (1) and animals (2). Her desk overlooks a park which nourishes her soul when she raises her head from her keyboard. She gets some of her best ideas during long yin yoga poses or walking – anywhere. While Jennifer adores historical romance, she chose to write contemporary because she thought (wrongly) it needed less research while she was holding down a full-time job.

As a Passionate Plotter in both my writing technique and a great many other aspects of my life, I'm starting to plan for the coming months. I'm thinking about what candy I'll buy for Halloween so that I can turn off the porch light and eat it all myself. I'm thinking about Thanksgiving dinner and how nice it is that someone came up with the idea of breeding boneless turkeys so I don't have to figure out how to cut all that meat away and somehow keep my dogs from pilfering the bones. I'm also thinking about the special people in my life, and how December gives me the perfect excuse to shower those I cherish with gifts without the required explanation. Sometimes "just because" is enough... but in December, buying presents for people is even easier. I'm fairly certain there are a lot of other people out in the world who think similarly. As everyone who has ever talked with me also knows, I'm a crazy-focused supporter of all things Indie Author, particularly the wonderful stories my Indie Author friends have created. And because I enjoy sharing my own little brand of crazy, I've created a Gift Guide to share My Favorite Stories (in several installments over the next few months). It is my hope that you may find a book that will make a great gift for someone you adore... or perhaps buy a book or two for yourself. All the books I will feature can be found on Amazon, or directly on the author's websites. I understand the difficulties associated with our current economic situation. I think I can speak for the entire Indie Author Community when I say, keeping your home and family safe and well cared for is more important than anything else. So if books are not in your budget this year, we completely understand. And... if you can't buy, please consider sharing this post with your book-loving friends. Or, perhaps take a moment or two to contact your local library and ask them to add one (or all) of these books to their shelves. Or, if you have already purchased or read one of these books, please consider leaving a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or the Author's website. Although it sounds like a cliché, reviews really are the life-blood of our writerly careers. The Indie Author Community appreciates your support, and we're looking forward to bringing you more stories in the New Year! Thank you! Discover More About These Authors...
